Browser Settings and Configuring Flash for Springboard eLearning
Some Springboard eLearning lessons contain AdobeTM Flash elements to support interactivity. Support for Adobe Flash in your browser is required to access this particular (older) subset of Springboard eLearning content.
In early 2021, AdobeTM announced that it has discontinued its development and support for the Flash technology.
In anticipation of this announcement from AdobeTM, we at Springer-Miller Systems have produced and launched a new comprehensive set of training sessions, the “FD100 Series” and featured it in the Springboard dashboard. This new series format does not rely on, or use, Flash.
While the enabling of Flash now requires a few extra steps to enable, there should be no immediate security concerns as long as Flash is enabled only for the Springboard site, as this content is protected and can be trusted. We recognize that enabling Flash to access this older content is not ideal, while we transition to a newer format of content, and we will continue to work hard to shorten the transition to all new content in 2021.
Accessing Flash enabled lessons in Springboard
Given the changes with AdobeTM Flash, your Chrome and/or Edge browsers, may initially block access to Flash elements or detect a Springboard lesson as a Pop-Up. If it does, you may see a blank White or Black screen in place of the lesson content, and your browser settings will need to be adjusted to Allow Flash.
Follow the steps below to Allow Flash in the most recent versions of the Chrome or Microsoft® Edge browsers.
Chrome provides a way for you to add the Springboard site address to a list of sites allowed to run Flash and to enable Pop-Ups for the Springboard site. Following the steps below should resolve browser related issues with Springboard.
